Family Law Bill

Family Law has always been regarded as the Cinderella of the legal system.  It has been grossly under funded and is quite frankly not fit for purpose.  In recognition of this the Government gave a commitment to publish a Family Court Bill.  The aim of the legislation was to set up a dedicated Family Law structure within the Courts system.  The Courts were to be resourced and the Judges trained in Family Law.  Family Law needs a less adversarial approach to the resolution of disputes and that would make the new structure even more important.  Unfortunately, the Bill was to be published by the end of March and so far, it has not been “watch this space”.
