Career History
Finola Cronin is a partner in our Waterford Office. She has worked as a Solicitor for over 30 years and has been involved in several high-profile criminal and civil cases during her career. She has also been involved in cases which have set important precedents in criminal and civil litigation.
Finola has developed various areas of practice, including Criminal Law and Mental Health Law. She also specialises in Enduring Powers of Attorney and the new Assisted Decision-Making Legislation. Finola has assisted many clients over the years in making Wills and writing Letters of Wishes.
Finola is involved with all matters of Personal Injury Litigation, including road traffic accidents, workplace accidents and accidents in the public sphere. Not all accidents can give rise to successful litigation, but in cases where negligence can be shown, Finola has developed an expertise in identifying the circumstances.
Finola is very knowledgeable in all areas of Family Law, including District Court applications, maintenance, domestic violence orders, access, Circuit Court Judicial Separation and Divorce. She is a strong advocate of the Mediation Services which often provide the best outcome for clients.
Finola also deals with Employment Law matters and acts for both the employer and the employee. The area of Employment Law has become increasingly technical with very strict deadlines. The loss or threatened loss of a job can be very stressful, and it is essential that professional legal advice is sought.
Furthermore, Finola acts for various insurance companies, including accidents at sea. Waterford and Dunmore East are busy fishing ports and Finola has developed an expertise in this area. She is familiar with the configuration of fishing vessels and the importance of specialised engineering evidence. Sea fishing is a difficult and dangerous occupation, where injuries often arise. Also, it is an area not covered by most solicitors, so Finola’s expertise is held in high regard.
Finola also acts in cases involving medical negligence. Again, this is a specialised area and Finola has unique knowledge of such injuries.
