The Courts have not been sitting as frequently as normal because of the COVID-19 scare. In particular Domestic Violence applications has been prioritised by the District Court, therefore, any person seeking a Protection Order, Interim Barring Order, an Emergency Barring Order or a Safety Order will be dealt with as quickly as possible by the District Court. The Courts will now treat breaches of Access Orders as urgent, therefore, if a parent is not being allowed access to the children in accordance with the Access Order these will now be dealt with as a priority by the Courts. Some parents have used the excuse of COVID-19 as a reason not to facilitate access and in certain circumstances that may well be justified, however, ultimately, the Court will make the decision.
